what is numen?
Carl Jung spoke of “the numinosum”
described as the influence of a presence (or energy) that causes a “peculiar alteration of consciousness.”
I believe this is the same energy that swells within the mind of a creative.
That jolt of unexplainable creative power that feels out of your control.
Many artists describe being “posessed” when writing their hit songs (michael jackson, john lennon, beyonce, kanye west)
I believe they were swept up by the numina
The word numen was originally used to describe the divine power, presence or will of a deity or god.
(presiding over a place, thing or moment)
It was derived from ancient latin word: “nuere” meaning “a nod of the head”
numen hides behind the mundane
synchronicities, emotional connection, exploration.
Experiencing, and being aware, and appreciative of those experiences.
Moments when you and something outside of you
both “nod”
almost to acknowledge the beauty and value you just witnessed.

If you want to encounter the numenous more often:
I believe you have to surrender to the chaos and imperfection of the world, and shift your perspective on it. Be unafraid, and shameless. Be ready to fail, and try again.
Do something uncharacteristic
Do something scary and difficult, watch how many opportinities arise.
That act, in itself, is the
numen.pursuit
